GENERAL RULES AND PET POLICY:
These reasonable house “Rules” are established for the safety and comfort of both current and subsequent guests, the preservation of property, and for the quiet enjoyment of all residents in the neighborhood. These Rules are also printed in the House Manual. You may also contact the hosts with any questions.
“Guests” means only registered guests and their authorized invitees.
A copy of non-expired government-issued identification is required for the guest responsible for the registration. If the guest responsible for the registration changes after the time of booking, identification for both the former and new guest is required.
Guests are strongly urged to purchase trip insurance to cover for losses against foreseeable events, such as death in the family, inability to travel because of illness, weather-related incidents, among other things. Refund for a guest’s inability to fulfill the reservation will only be issued in accord with the cancellation policy in effect at the time of the booking.
Guests must notify hosts upon discovery of any condition that could foreseeably be the cause of a guest complaint or that creates a potential hazard to guests, their invitees, or the property. Guests must provide reasonable access, if such access may be necessary to assess and remedy the condition. Refunds or partial refunds will not be granted if hosts were deprived of a reasonable opportunity to cure. Avoidable damages to the property resulting from a guest’s failure to notify hosts or provide access may be assessed to guests, depending on the circumstances.
Guests may not use the host-provided Internet to download or upload any illegal or unlawful content, including child pornography or copyright-protected intellectual property (e.g., movies, music, etc.). Downloading of movies or music is often detected by Internet Service Providers (ISPs), and results in the issuance of a warning to the subscriber (in this case, hosts) under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Downloading or uploading of child pornography is often detected by ISPs and results in a “Cyber tip” to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which will eventually result in an administrative subpoena for subscriber information, and a search warrant. Hosts will be required, in such circumstances, to disclose the identity of the guests who were present at the time such download or upload was detected.
Bicycles, motorcycles, scooters, or other transportation equipment other than collapsible wheelchairs are not allowed in the home. These items may be locked on-site.
Smoking, vaping, the burning of incense, including cannabis or its derivatives, whether or not for medicinal use, is prohibited. These odors are difficult to eradicate, and may be offensive to subsequent guests, who may cancel and be displaced of lodging. A $375 fee will be assessed for each violation.
Use of dyes, solvents, bleaches, or other harsh chemicals, whether for hair, clothing, or crafts, is prohibited on the property. These chemicals (such as ammonium thioglycolate, commonly found in hair perm products) leave offensive odors or will permanently ruin linens, towels, furniture, flooring, and fixtures. Likewise, guests may not use provided towels for wiping or absorbing tinted tanning lotions, sprays, grease, oils, solvents, or dyes.
Storage of gasoline, diesel, propane canisters, fishing bait, hunting carcasses, or other flammable, corrosive, combustible, or noxious substances is prohibited within the home. Cleaning of fish as necessary for a single meal preparation is permitted, but gutting and preparation of animals or portions of animals (except meal-sized portions ordinarily sold by grocery stores) is not permitted in the home or on the property.
We recognize that the only exception to this pet policy would be under the Americans with Disabilities Act or North Carolina laws for a service animals.
As hosts, we deal with severe animal allergies, and for our own health, as well as that of our cleaners and subsequent guests, urge you to seek more pet-friendly options. Live animals brought on site will result in a $500 fee, ejectment, and cancellation of the booking without refund.
Guests shall closely supervise children around furniture that is vulnerable to damage (e.g., wooden tables that can be damaged by metal or plastic toys, or leather couches that can be scratched by metal or plastic toys). Please note, there are a number of glass-topped tables in our cabins.
The number of overnight guests stated in the reservation agreement is strictly enforced. Infants and children count as guests for purposes of this rule. Hosts receive real-time notifications of ingress and egress to/from the property through security cameras. Invitees (visitors) other than registered guests to the property are allowed only with permission requested and granted through the listing platform. Refusal of a request shall not be a valid basis for cancellation or modification of reservation or refund. An intentional or negligent mischaracterization of the purpose or number of visitors may result in cancellation without refund and/or the imposition of additional per-person fees.
No guests or invitees may occupy (sleep overnight in) recreational vehicles or tents on the property without the hosts’ express approval sought and granted though the listing platform. Additional fees may be assessed in such cases.
Guests shall not attempt any physical or network modifications, configuration, hacking, relocation, or resetting of host-provided networking or wireless hardware or software
Except for use of a toilet plunger to remediate a clogged toilet, guests shall attempt no repair or modification of any household fixture, appliance, or appurtenance without permission sought and granted through the listing platform.
To avoid unpleasant odors on the grounds surrounding the home, guests and their visitors must use only the two designated toilets.
Loud, bright, noxious, or lewd activities, including the playing of loud music, shouting, lasers, strobes, or fireworks, any of which may disturb neighbors, are prohibited. There is no reasonable expectation of privacy outside, and any of the aforementioned activities may be captured by security camera footage or observed by neighbors, who may refer the matter to law enforcement. Guests are prohibited from possessing within the home or discharging anywhere on the property any fireworks or explosive devices.
Hot Tub Use: We maintain a very strict hot tub hygiene regimen and have taken steps to provide guests with a safe and relaxing spa experience.
Hot tubs are serviced prior to each guests’ arrival. On occasion the hot tub may not be ready due to cleaning/regular maintenance, which may result in water not being warm enough for use until later in the evening.
Personal body products such as lotions, deodorants, shampoos, and conditioners will leave a visible residue in the hot tub. The hot tub will be free of this material prior to your arrival. If you feel you do not have an acceptable water quality, please contact your hosts at once.
Hot tubs must be covered after each use. Do not sit or stand on the cover.
Any damage to the hot tub cover will result in a $500 damage fee.
Allowing trash into the hot tub may damage the pumps and/or filters resulting in an expensive repair and the guests will be liable for damages. Glassware on or in the hot tub is prohibited.
We make every effort to keep the hot tub functional, however, there is no guarantee that mechanical failure can be repaired in a timely manner. There will be no refunds or discounts due to any hot tub malfunction.
There are possible health risks associated with the use of hot tubs, and each guest is responsible for their own safety. Persons with certain health risks such as heart disease, diabetes, high/low blood pressure, any serious illness or pregnant may wish to consult their physician prior to entering the hot tub.
Chemicals used to keep hot tubs sanitary may cause fading in some swimsuits and some individuals may experience mild skin rashes.
Children under the age of 12 are prohibited from using the hot tub unless accompanied and supervised by their legal guardian.
Operating of any aerial aircraft or drones from the property is prohibited.
Guests are prohibited from operating any bonfire or grill except, as follows: (1) within the provided patio fire pit; or (2) using the supplied charcoal grill. A bonfire must not exceed three feet in height and shall not be left burning unattended, and the guest assumes all liability of damages or costs incurred because of the fire, including the cost of all fire calls made.
Guests are prohibited from damaging or altering the landscaping, including the pruning or removal of flowers or botanical specimens, or harassing, disturbing, or removing wildlife, including but not limited to bird nests (including eggs or hatchlings), aquatic life (e.g., fish, frogs, tadpoles, etc.), feral cats, rabbits, deer, raccoons, geese, and ducks among others. Guests shall not feed the fish in the pond or other wildlife.
Guests shall not enter or attempt entry to areas of the home that are not obviously provided for guest access, including, but not limited to the basement, the attic, and the roof. Accessing these areas is considered exceeding the scope of license and constitutes trespass.
Hosts are not responsible for conditions that are outside of their control, and cancellations and refunds are not applicable to these circumstances. Examples that could arise in a residential neighborhood include, but are not not be limited to, roosters crowing, road construction in the area, maintenance performed by utilities workers, lawn mowing, leaf blowing, or chain saw operation by neighbors, power outages, Internet outages, among other things. Guests are encouraged to contact hosts if they believe hosts may be able to influence the situation.
Indications of the existence of or discovery of mice, wasps, spiders, or other wildlife that commonly enter homes or reside on or near homes shall not form the basis for a reservation cancellation or refund. The property is located in a semi-suburban area, with heavy tree shade and vegetation. Hosts make commercially reasonable efforts to control the ingress of such wildlife. Hosts do not use baits or chemicals with residual effect that would be toxic to guests or wildlife.
Though we are true animal lovers, we apologize for being unable to host your animals. I have serious pet allergies, and our property is unfenced and located on a busy road. There are no bathroom opportunities for animals. For these reasons, we would encourage you to filter your search for a pet-friendly stay if you must travel with an animal. Please note: This is a very small, antique log cabin, with limited space. There is a queen size bed and a full bed in the loft. We do not have a full length sofa and no room for blow up mattresses. We cannot accommodate or accept party sizes greater than four. We respectfully request all reservations to include a current and recognizable photo on your listing profile, your legal name and the names of your guests listed on the reservation. We do not accept third party reservations. Please contact us if there are special circumstances or questions.
ON-SITE MANAGEMENT:
We are readily available to offer any assistance you may need, but we may also be completely off-site. You may let us know your preferences. Our aim is to offer you undisturbed access to the cabin and its grounds.
